A note from Fiona
Welcome to Chicago! If you’re new to the area or interested in diving into the world of venture capital (VC) and startups, hi, I’m Fiona Chen, a 2nd year at University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a goal of running my own VC firm one day. Like many of you, I’m relatively new to Chicago and VC. Prior to Booth, I was in management consulting for a decade and had a brief stint as a startup co-founder.
At LongJump, we have the privilege of working alongside brilliant ecosystem partners and a front row seat in many pre-seed founders’ journeys. Additionally, for the past year, I’ve interviewed dozens of VC leaders and startup founders across multiple stages and industries - here’s a running list of resources LongJump has earmarked over the years, as well as what I’ve personally found helpful or that have been recommended to me by my interviewees.
We hope this guide helps accelerate your inevitable trajectory towards success.
Please note: for those of you who have seen my original co-authored guide with LongJump, this version of the guide is an extension of the original with a dedicated list of AI tools I’ve been using as an investor, and also a list of UChicago newsletters I’ve found helpful.
